Tonight, we had the pleasure of collaborating with the Sports Business Society (SBS), where we dove into the most memorable Super Bowls Ads! Giana Colona, VP of Events, delivered an engaging and interesting session paired with a hands-on workshop. We analyzed the marketing strategies, creative approaches, and impact of the commercials that made waves during the big game. Members were able to gain valuable insights into the crossover between sports, business, and advertising, making it a perfect experience for both marketing enthusiasts and sports fans!

What Are Marketing Strategies and Why Are They So Important?
Marketing strategies are all about creating a plan to promote your brand and achieve your goals, like boosting awareness or driving sales. It’s especially important for the Super Bowl because of its massive viewership, offering an amazing chance to connect with a wide audience. Brands need to get creative, aiming for memorable ads that resonate with viewers, especially since the game itself generates such a large and wide audience. With millions tuning in, it’s the perfect time to build brand recognition and loyalty. Clever ads can spark conversations for weeks! Whether it’s targeting the right audience or creating something super innovative, the strategies brands use during the Super Bowl can make a lasting impression and alter their futures.
In short, Super Bowl ads are a MAJOR opportunity. Brands need a strong strategy to stand out, make an impact, and turn viewers into lifelong customers!
Advertising Strategies
Brand Positioning: Different brands use the Super Bowl to reinforce or shift their image, whether it's luxury, humor, or innovation.
Target Audience Strategies: Brands tailor their messaging to different demographics and align their products with specific fan bases or age groups.
Celebrity Endorsements and Influencers: Celebrities and athletes are used to elevate a brand’s appeal, as this approach often always resonates with the audience
Long-Term Impact: A common question that often comes up is whether Super Bowl ads, especially when brands are spending millions for a spot, actually drive sales and whether it’s worth the investment. My answer is a resounding yes! When executed well, these ads generate buzz that goes far beyond the game itself. This can lead to increased sales, enhanced brand loyalty, and long-term brand awareness.
Most Memorable Ads
Throughout the meeting, we dove into analyzing a variety of Super Bowl ads and how they resonated with the audience. We looked at ads from brands like Nike, Little Caesars, Poppi, Angel Soft, and more! I’ve linked the ads, so feel free to take a look. After discussing in small groups, we came together to break down key aspects like target audience, messaging, creative elements, what made each ad stand out, and whether we liked or disliked it. Opinions varied, but my favorite ad this year was Poppi’s because it featured some of my favorite celebrities, like Jake Shane and Alix Earle, and delivered a fun, lively, and creative take on promoting a healthier soda alternative!
Workshop
Giana led an exciting and interactive workshop where members teamed up to create their own Super Bowl ad for a brand of their choice! Each team brainstormed ideas for their ad concept, why it would be a Super Bowl hit, and which marketing strategies would make it stand out. After developing their pitches, teams presented their ideas to the group, and everyone voted on their favorite ad. Some of the creative concepts were for brands like Tinder, Spotify, Airbnb, and Amazon. This workshop was not only a fun and engaging way to think like marketers, but it also sparked great discussions and got our creative juices flowing!
AMA would like to thank SBS for joining us today and Giana Colona for leading an insightful workshop! Her presentation was thoroughly detailed and offered invaluable guidance on marketing strategies and why Super Bowl ads really are so impactful and important!
